James Nation is a political consultant and was appointed an OBE in 2025 for his public service. From 2022 to 2024 he was Deputy Head of the Policy Unit at 10 Downing Street under Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, where he led the team responsible for drawing up the Conservative Party manifesto for the 2024 general election and was dubbed “Sunak's Problem Solver” by The Guardian.

He previously worked in Number 11 as special advisor to then Chancellor Rishi Sunak, on the team that developed the March 2021 budget and the government's fiscal response to the COVID pandemic, following civil service roles at HM Treasury and the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government. He began his career at the Confederation of British Industry after studying at Oxford and the London School of Economics.
