Alexander Michaelides is Professor of Finance at Imperial College Business School, where he served as Head of the Department of Finance from 2014 to 2021, and is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Economic Policy Research. He previously taught at the London School of Economics and was Professor of Finance at the University of Cyprus.
His central banking experience includes visiting positions at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System, a Wim Duisenberg Research Fellowship at the European Central Bank, and service on the board of directors of the Central Bank of Cyprus. He holds a PhD in Economics from Princeton University and a BA from Harvard, and his research focuses on household finance, asset pricing and housing markets.
