Raghavendra Rau is the Sir Evelyn de Rothschild Professor of Finance at Cambridge University's Judge Business School, founder and academic director of the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, president of the Financial Management Association, and Gresham Professor of Business at Gresham College.

He was previously a Principal at Barclays Global Investors in San Francisco, then the largest asset manager in the world, and is a past president of the European Finance Association. His research covers corporate finance, behavioural finance and information economics. In 2015 he won the Ig Nobel Prize in Management for a study of how CEOs who survive natural disasters in childhood develop a greater appetite for risk.
